How To Use Your Cat Grooming Supplies

 

If you have decided to groom your cat you will need to purchase some cat grooming supplies. You will find that there are many cat grooming products which make the job of grooming a cat much simpler. You can choose to purchase items such as brushes, wire toothed combs, finger brushes, cat toothpaste, cotton balls, cat shampoo and even nail clippers for your cat.

 

The most important thing to do first of all is to check your cat for any matted fur or clumps of hair. This is more likely to be the case if you have a cat with long hair. Never pull these matted bits of hair as this could hurt the cat. It would be preferable if you could prise the matted hair apart with either a comb, brush or your fingers. If you cannot do this then you will have to cut the hair. Matted hair is really common in long haired cats in areas such as their ears, toes and around their legs.

 

To groom your cat, you should start at the head. Brush from the top of the head downwards in the direction of your cat’s fur. Once you have done the head then you can move along the cat’s body and the legs. Use soft strokes so as not to hurt your cat. This procedure can be repeated a few times to improve results. It is important to keep the brush or comb free from a build up of dead hair. You probably won’t find it very hard to groom your cat because most cats like this. But the main thing will be taking your own cat’s dislikes and likes into consideration. Some other cats do not like specific areas being brushed for example some hat having their stomachs brushed and others do not like having their legs or feet brushed.

 

When you have finished brushing your cat, you can clear out the ears with cotton balls and a cleaning solution. And if you want to finish off the grooming process then a finger toothbrush can be used on the teeth and mouth. Your cat will be very happy and so will you as you will have done a job worthy of a professional service.
