Con la información contenida en el libro de Pelzer, Catalina no tratar a los dos mayores o menores bebé abusiva. Ellos eran inmunes a su abuso físico. David sigue diciendo que ella dijo en la misma declaración y otra vez durante casi una semana (pág 86).

La necesidad de poder y control sobre los demás es importante para la Bruja TLP, así como la necesidad de obtener una respuesta de miedo y shock. Catherine ciertamente ilustra cómo se necesita cada uno de estos. Ella ejerce poder sobre David, reduciéndolo a un "esclavo" (pág. 50, 84, 126), un "ello" (pág. 140), y "el niño" (pág. 50). Ella controla cada parte de su vida hasta lo que comía (o más bien, lo que no comen). Fue controlado a través de tener que "trabajar" constantemente alrededor de la casa con sólo que se les permita asistir a la escuela. Su patológico "necesidades" dio lugar a David ver su casa como "casa de locos" (pág. 104) y "casa infierno" (pág. 137), así como su existencia como "la vida mórbida" (pág. 116). Se sentía como si su alma se consumía en un "vacío negro" (pág. 132).

Ella utiliza el miedo y la conmoción a través de su abuso. Fue relegado al sótano en un catre, sin saber cuando se alimenta, les permite ver la luz del sol, o golpear (rounders diez (pág 111), azotado con cadenas de perro (pág. 116), escoba golpes manija a la parte posterior de las piernas (PG 117)). Él era a menudo intenso, con miedo: temblores, dificultad para concentrarse, los latidos del corazón saltar, y asustada. Debido a la obsesión por encontrar comida, David recurrió a adoptar otro niño de comidas, (pág 48), los alimentos de la tienda (PG 59), comida de la cafetería congelados (pág. 63), pidiendo comida (pág. 69), y congelado a partir del sótano de su casa (pág. 79). También se comen las sobras de su cubo de basura después de que su familia comió (pág 62) hasta que su madre comenzó a añadir amoniaco a los residuos o la plantación de comida en mal estado por lo que él se enferma (pág 63). También se burlan de el niño muere de hambre por poner comida delante de él luego de tomar de distancia (dos minutos de juego pág 105 -107). Junto con los alimentos en origen, Catalina también se oculte intencionadamente higiene y la ropa de David. La Bruja BPD organiza una "campaña de denigración", reclutar a otros como aliados contra el blanco de su ira. "Ella puede buscar amigos, miembros de la familia (incluyendo a los hermanos e hijos), y compañeros de trabajo de su víctima en quien confiar fabricados historias diseñadas para desacreditar a su enemigo "(pág. 141) dice la madre de Lawson. David, Catherine, denigrado David girando en contra de David familia incluyendo a su padre y otros hermanos. También tenía la escuela se volvió contra él, vinculación él como un ladrón y un "chico malo". Ella le dijo a los vecinos cosas negativas acerca de David, lo más denigrante. El TLP Bruja busca y se casa con un "Pescador", alguien que pueda dominar y controlar, que es exactamente que se casó con Catalina. Stephen Pelzer fue completamente dominado y controlado por Catherine. Él fue un socio subordinado quien renunció a su voluntad a sus órdenes (pág. 179), como Lawson describe el pescador. Catherine plenamente reúne los requisitos para cada uno de estos puntos. Además y más específicamente, como la madre bruja DBP, envió el siguiente mensaje a David:

El hijo de la bruja se levanta en una situación desesperada – y David lo hizo con su determinación, inteligente pensar, y fuerte. Las palabras de la bruja puede ser vil, su corazón frío como una piedra – David afortunadamente sobrevivió las palabras vil y sin corazón de la madre para convertirse en un hombre de gran éxito y un inspiración para todos.
